With Each a Well
Marah
If you are new here, welcome! This space is for poems, a little sip of beauty in verse, to brighten your day. :)
“Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8) I feel led to keep this publication free to everyone: a gift from God, to me, to you. :) However, if you are visiting, consider subscribing! This keeps the good stuff coming directly your way.
Leaving a comment is literally the bread and butter that warms my heart. I read each one and it makes me feel a little bit more like my shared thoughts matter.
Pressing the heart lets me know you were here, a little “I see you” from your heart, to mine.
And lastly, re-stacking (the swirling arrows icon!) spreads the word and makes this post visible to more people! Just like sliding that magazine to the top of the stack. ;) Bonus points if you restack with a note!
Triumph and glory, We rejoice in our story; But same song and dance, Our feet cease to prance, And we drag, dusty, Our throat parching and thirsty, Until at last, water's sighted! But our hopes are blighted, And bitter we choke on the answers To our ornery prayers - Our hearts a litmus test As our tongues lap the wet. Bitter, Changed better. O taste and see, the Lord is good, Providing, like He will and would. And leading us on And guiding us strong, To cooler waters, and deeper still, To quench our thirst with each a well, Each a well, for the grumbling twelve. ~ By Sierra Westerholm Photo by Juli Kosolapova on Unsplash
**Inspired by the story of the Israelites at Marah - read the whole story in Exodus 15. :)
P.S. This definitely isn’t my best poem ever, and I wrestled with it quite a few times, but I’m trying to be more consistent with writing and posting (mostly for my own sake!), and I’m trying to challenge myself to write something every week, so thanks for being here with me! There will probably be a few more Old Testament inspired poems the next couple weeks. ;) So until next time, have a blessed weekend and week!
