Wordy Penguin
Awkward yet Graceful
If you are new here, welcome! This space is for poems, a little sip of beauty in verse, to brighten your day. :)
“Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8) As of right now, I feel led to keep this publication free to everyone. A gift from God, to me, to you. :) However, if you are visiting, consider subscribing! This keeps the good stuff coming directly your way.
Leaving a comment is literally the bread and butter that warms my heart. I read each one and it makes me feel a little bit more like my shared thoughts matter.
Pressing the heart lets me know you were here, a little “I see you” from your heart, to mine.
And lastly, re-stacking (the swirling arrows icon!) spreads the word and makes this post visible to more people! Just like sliding that magazine to the top of the stack. ;) Bonus points if you restack with a note!
It's awkward, squawking Words, Slurred, slipped, and swapped, Like corange ookies, And Sham's Cub stores, Awkward, awking, gawking, Delayed, relayed, response, Shuffling bird, Dodo iglooed penguin Of words; Black and white, trip the ice, Please sink surmise, surprise The surface Where graceful the black Torpedo glides and glimmers In smooth currents and Blue auroras shimmer And words shine in splashing silence Of mined mind And Subterranean Ocean finds. ~ By Sierra Westerholm Photo by Dejox on Unsplash
And that’s it folks! This was experimental and so fun to write (although you’ll have to kiss proper punctuation goodbye!).
A thank you to the Rabbit Room Poetry Hour for helping to inspire this! If you’re not already connected with them, read about it here and sign up!
That’s all! Have a blessed weekend and week!

Wonderful! Tis exactly how words work for me too!
This makes me think of myself... I feel like when I'm talking audibly, my words stumble like an awkward penguin on land - but then if you hand me a pen, I'll find my tongue in the silent strokes of ink. 🐧
