This poem was inspired after meeting someone for the first time. We were talking about being morning people or night people, and whether we see the sunset or sunrise more often. And then she said a line: "My sunset is someone's else's sunrise." A simple statement that struck our circle of three so much that we all just suddenly paused to take it in. And then this poem was born a few hours later.
It took a direction I didn't fully expect (most poems do, let's be honest!), and it also took a form I didn't expect. But I couldn't wrestle with it. I let it take it twists and turns, and overall I'm fairly happy with how it birthed itself. Hope you enjoyed!
As someone with relatives on the other side of this world, my sunset truly is someone else's sunrise, which is all the more reason to love this poem. Thank you for sharing :)
